Social Services and Culture

The day-care, kindergarten and after-school club facilities provide extraordinarily good and flexible care for children aged 1 to 10 – including some full-time places. In addition, Griesheim works together with the Tageselternvermittlungsbüro Darmstadt childminding agency and with many other private and voluntary child-care providers.

The "Griesheimer Bündnis für Familie" (Families Alliance), founded in 2005, aims to connect the work of the many local organisations and institutions together in order to make child-care easier for families and to enable communication.

The Haus Waldeck residential and nursing home is a home for elderly people in need of short and long term nursing care. There are also 120 apartments for the elderly nearby, the residents of which can also use the services provided by Haus Waldeck. The churches are very active in Griesheim and make a significant contribution to social cooperation and mutual assistance in everyday life.
