Welcome to Griesheim

With over 28,000 inhabitants, Griesheim is the largest town in the Darmstadt-Dieburg rural district and is in the heart of the Rhine-Main-Neckar area. Griesheim stretches across an area of 2,155 hectares, bordering on the leisure areas of Hessisches Ried, Hessiche Bergstraße and Odenwald. Two motorway junctions mean that Griesheim is ideally connected to the Rhine-Main-Neckar metropolitan area and to Frankfurt International Airport.

This open, friendly town has grown organically in recent decades around its beautiful town centre. The people of Griesheim are proud that their home town has been able to retain its original friendly character and the benefits of being a small town, in which people can live and work in peace and security. The town has a healthy social environment with an exceptionally good infrastructure and modern, family-friendly residential areas.

That's why Griesheim is the ideal place to live and work in the Rhine-Main-Neckar area.

Where is Griesheim?

Griesheim is in the heart of the Rhine-Main area, with excellent transport connections both by motorway (A5/A67) and public transport. Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Mainz, etc. can all be reached quickly and easily.
Griesheim neighbours the city of Darmstadt. With a population of about 27,000, Griesheim is one of the largest municipalities in the Darmstadt-Dieburg rural district. Thanks to its many modern facilities, Griesheim is not only a popular place to live, but also has a very diverse business infrastructure.

The tram connection guarantees an excellent transport link to Darmstadt. Darmstadt's main railway station and the Darmstadt motorway junction are just a few minutes from Griesheim. From there, Frankfurt Airport can be reached quickly, making Griesheim an attractive location for visitors to Frankfurt's trade fairs, too.

In addition, Griesheim has an increasing number of cultural events to offer, as well as a wide range of public facilities, such as: a modern outdoor swimming pool, an indoor pool with sauna and solarium, sports halls and fields, parks, a relaxing forest, community centres, barbecue locations, …

Griesheim's Economic Development Agency is the first port of call for businesses in Griesheim, as well as for potential investors and interested parties. Here, you can find information quickly and easily about Griesheim as a place to live and work in the heart of the Rhine-Main region.

Our work is based on a comprehensive network of contacts with landowners, investors, banks and companies, and cooperation with and within many organisations at a local, regional and interregional level (partners from business and industry).

Economic development is not an end in itself, but rather an active part of the targeted and integrated development of the town of Griesheim. We work actively on location and support investors in setting up new companies, use existing networks, for example to find staff, and offer a consistent marketing concept for the business.

The staff at the Office for Economic Development, Property and Housing in Griesheim are available at all times for any questions and suggestions and to provide assistance in any way.

Infrastructure

Short routes, getting you there quickly – that's what Griesheim stands for. The road network within the town is well-developed, accessible and easy to navigate. Modern local bypasses such as the South, North and West ring roads connect the industrial areas directly with Darmstadt and the A5 and A7 motorways – an ideal connection to the international road network. Frankfurt International Airport and Darmstadt’s main railway station are easy to reach. A new station for high-speed ICE trains between Darmstadt and Griesheim is in the planning stage.

In the four modern industrial areas - Flughafenstraße, Kirschberg, Rübgrund and Frankfurter Weg – fully developed plots are ready to be used at short notice. Non-bureaucratic and quick: small and mid-sized companies especially will find the best conditions here.

Griesheim's traditionally close relationship with nature and the environment, the geographical proximity to Darmstadt, a centre for science and education, the first-class employment structure and the infrastructural connections provide good arguments for many companies to settle in Griesheim.
